Or at least that’s what she’d say. Over the years various people have thought it alternately adorable, annoying or cruel, but after any amount of time spent in her presence, they generally came to understand. As the youngest of several children, she’s always been the curious, has to know everything, completely impassioned about something one minute and bored with it the next sort of person, which has gotten her into all sorts of, ahem, trouble over the years, but it’s also opened doors that were closed to those less ballsy. Her older siblings, understandable, spent most of their time trying to get away from her. A few things have stuck: She loves museums, and archives, and history, and research, and reading about various plagues and disasters. She’s quite a good swimmer, and after taking lessons as a child to ‘get rid of some of her excess energy’ (which clearly didn’t work), she participated in the swim team on and off over the years and became a lifeguard. She took piano lessons for years and played loudly and exuberantly and never got any better. Her parents were more than a little relieved that, despite her behavioral problems and tendency to cheek anyone in a ten foot radius, she was awarded a partial academic and partial athletic scholarship to college. In her senior year she had to make the decision between doing library studies or museum studies for her graduate work, and it was landing a few choice internships that made the decision for her. Not to mention being offered a research fellowship so that she can live tuition-free, room and board paid by the university along with a regular stipend, all in exchange for being a research assistant to a conservation specialist who’s also a professor. Trouble got back from a year-long internship in London and became Awful. As far as she’s concerned, she’s known for years and only figured it didn’t matter because Howard and the others weren’t around, which is of course why she chose to do a year in England instead of in Washington, DC at the Smithsonian. Luckily for her, she came back and landed smack dab in the middle of Tampa insanity. She ended up moving in with Shine, marrying Finny, getting an indestructible pet bunny, setting up house with Finny and Scarlett, not even noticing that she got powers, and then getting mugged at the beach and completely forgetting who she was, past or present. Eventually she moved outside the city so she could try to recover. It was a really rough time, especially for Finny and Scarlett. She ended up quietly divorcing the former, while the latter went abroad to continue working on her master’s. Then in March she wound up in the city for a day on the 17th with her mother to visit one of her friends. It was a fairly stupid move on their part, but exactly the right thing to do in the end. Awful separated from Trouble unnoticed, and then Trouble got confronted by her past life just before they rejoined again at midnight. While she still couldn’t remember much of her own life, she definitely remembered Awful’s. With Awful’s memories back, she knew to stop avoiding Howard, and in the end, a few of the wizards arranged for her to get the best possible treatment available. Between the doctors, shrinks and a few trips into Tampa for reminders, Trouble is recovered enough to move back to the city, going to school and working for the museum part time, and taking up lifeguarding again.
